Shop sign materials: PLA, PETG or ASA in Tenerife

You already know which sign you want, but one decision still determines how many years it will last: the material. In the Canaries that is no detail. The sun beats down all twelve months and, if your premises are near the sea, salt air eats cheap plastic within months. Here is which material goes where, how long each one holds up and what budget to plan for.

Pick the format before the material

Before looking at plastics it helps to settle the format. PLA, PETG and ASA: which goes where

PLA is the most economical and gives the best indoor finish: for a reception logo or corridor signage it is more than enough. PETG is the functional middle ground: it resists heat and humidity, so it works in restaurant kitchens or under a covered porch. ASA is the king of the outdoors: it does not yellow under UV and withstands salt air — exactly what kills cheap signs in the Canaries.

For any sign exposed to the weather we add IP65 electronics and LEDs rated over 50,000 h. The material will not save you if the electronics flood in the first storm with a southerly wind.

Indoors or façade: what actually changes

An interior sign — reception logo, decorative neon flex, signage — prioritises finish and aesthetics: PLA does the job and keeps the piece cheap. A façade sign takes sun, rain and wind all year round, and there is no room to compromise: ASA, sealed joints and IP65 electronics. If your premises face the sea, salt air speeds up the wear of cheap materials, and that is where ASA makes the difference.

How much it costs and a quote within 24 h
